How Do I Naturally Get Rid Of Dark Under Eye Circles?

Almost everyone gets them at one point in their life, if not at several points in their life. Dark under eye circles may very well be the number one thing that can prematurely age us, even more than wrinkles! Some causes behind under eye circles include:

  • Illness
  • Allergies
  • Heredity
  • Inadequate or improper sleep

No matter what may be the culprit behind your dark under eye circles, there are ways to get rid of them. Below are some of the most effective ways out there that you need to try today:

Cucumber Slices

This is one is an oldie but a goodie. Cucumber slices have been used for centuries to try and reduce puffiness and dark circle that are under one’s eyes. If your eyes need a bit of a revival on any given day, cut two slices of cucumber, get comfortable, and place the cucumbers over your eyes. Let them stay there for up to 15 minutes, keeping your eyes closed the entire time. Remove the slices and you will notice that your dark under eye circles are significantly reduced and the puffiness of your eyes have also lessened considerably, if not completely.

Saline Solution

You can make up your very own saline solution to help get rid of those pesky under eye circles. Take 2 cups of water and combine the water with ¼ teaspoon of sea salt, along with ½ teaspoon of baking soda. Put the saline solution in one of your nostrils, making sure to keep your head tilted to the side. You want the saline solution to come out of the other nostril to help clear out your sinuses. This solution is particularly useful if your dark under eye circles are the result of congestion.

Try a Potato

Take one uncooked potato and put it into a blender. Mix the potato until it is “liquidized” or pureed, and then place the potato puree onto each closed eye. Keep your eyes closed and have the potato stay in place for up to half an hour. After 30 minutes have passed, wash it off with warm water.

Frozen Spoons

Take a spoon, put it in the freezer, and pour water overtop of it. Leave it in there for a few minutes and then remove it. Lay back and place the spoon over top of your dark eye circles, and hold it in place until the ice begins to melt. Remove the spoon and you should notice that the dark under eye circles have reduced significantly.

Cool Tea Bags

Another oldie but a goodie. Take cooled tea bags (or ice cubes) and wrap them up in a soft cloth. Then, place the cooled tea bags over each eye. Leave them in place for 15 minutes or so, and then remove them. Rinse your face with warm water.

TIP: The tannin in the tea bags is what will help reduce both the swelling and discoloration of your eyes. You can use either caffeinated or non-caffeinated tea bags for your eyes.
